Congratulations Lady Trojan Volleyball players who have earned post season honors. Junior, Kady De Luna was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year for District 32-A. Alexandra Orozco was named to the first team while teammates Brenda Guadiana and Betsy Galvan were second team all district. Desiree Posas, Dilsia Contreras, Kayla Salazar, and Mercedes Salazar all received votes and made the honorable mention squad.

The Trojan Cross Country team placed 11th at the Regional Meet in San Antonio last Saturday, November 3rd held at Brooks Base. Luis Herrera paced the Trojans finishing in 29th place; Rene Flores finished 50th, Christian Hernandez 90th, Jesus Martinez 121st, and Julian Rivera 145th. The event was won by Big Sandy, Axtell finished second, and district champions Knippa finished third for a trip to Round Rock and the State Meet. The Trojans competed well and everyone will be returning next season for a shot at the Regional title. Congratulations boys for all your hard work and improvement this season.

The Trojan basketball squad's season is well under way as we competed in the Kingsville Academy Tournament this past weekend. The Trojans opened the tournament with a loss to a very tall Corpus Christi Carroll JV team, 41 -25. Junior Jonathan Willis led the Trojan attack with 10 points while junior Rene Flores added 6. The Trojans then defeated Agua Dulce 40 - 19 led by Rene Flores with 11 points. On Saturday we opened the day with a hard fought 53-47 decision. The Trojans were led by freshmen Luis Herrera (18 points) and Aaron Herrera (17 points) while David Tanguma dropped in 7 and Jonathan Willis finished with 6 points. This put the Trojans in the Consolation Trophy Game in a rematch with the Carroll JV again. The superior size was too much to overcome as we lost 56-39. Aaron Herrera led the team with 14 points, Jonathan Willis added 7, and Julian Rivera had 6. This week the Trojans will play at Port Isabel on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and on Friday they will be at Progreso for a 3:30 contest. On Tuesday November 27th we will host IDEA Academy for our first home game of the season.

The Lady Trojans opened the Kingsville Tournament with a 41 - 34 victory over the Hebbronville Lady Longhorns. Junior, Mercedes Salazar led all scorers with 24 points; Dilsia Contreras added 5, Kayla Salazar 4, Brenda Guadiana 3, Betsy Galvan, Priscilla Nieto - Samantha Herrera 2 points each, and Alex Orozco completed the scoring with 1 point. The Ladies then met a very big team, the Lady Brahmas from Kingsville and lost 45-30. Mercedes again led the team with 10 points, Dilsia added 7, and Samantha had 6. On Saturday, the Ladies faced the lady Badgers from Bishop and fell 41 -22. Mercedes had 9 points, Brenda 6, and Dilsia 5. The Lady Trojans next game will be at Port Isabel on Tuesday, November 27th at 6:00 p.m.
