Brownsville man sentenced to 8 years for cocaine possession

Ricardo Gracia, Jr. Ricardo Gracia, Jr. The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office announced today that Ricardo Gracia, Jr., 35, of Brownsville, TX was found guilty on August 23, 2010 in the 197th District Court and was sentenced to 8 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for possession of a controlled substance.

On December 6, 2009, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on Gracia for speeding. Troopers noticed Gracia was extremely nervous and gave conflicting stories for his travel. Gracia consented to a search of the vehicle and Troopers located over 7 kilograms of cocaine in his vehicle.

The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office will aggressively prosecute crimes relating to drug trafficking and would like to thank Texas Department of Public Safety Agent Sergio Ramirez, Jr. and Trooper Eugenio Garcia for their participation on this case. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Bernard W. Ammerman and First Assistant District Attorney Scott Greenbaum.
