ISABELLA BUXKEMPER WILDE

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Isabella O. Buxkemper was born April 10, 1924 in Frelsburg and married James L. Wilde (D 2-23-05) June 18, 1947.

Bolstered by their faith and Dad's sense of adventure, they moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1948 to pursue the life of a cotton farmer. She became a dedicated partner in a new land and raised seven children with a strong Christian faith, hard work and toil. Education was important to her, in fact all seven children received college degrees.

Mom was our ROCK, always positive in her outlook to face the trials and tribulations of depending on the ups and downs of farming, including droughts, floods and boll weevils. Her faith sustained and comforted her and instilled that trust in the Lord to all of us.

She was active in the Altar Society and choir at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Raymondville, TX. She was also past president at the Stillman Home Demonstration Club. Mom's hobbies included quilting, crocheting and sewing. She always had a huge garden and canning became a big part of her and Dad's life. Her canned beets, dill pickles and peaches, etc. were enjoyed by all of us. Their record ... 99 quarts of pickles in one month. She also became an avid fisherwoman to keep up with her husband.

Following the death of her husband of 58 years, Mom moved back to the childhood area of her youth, the Oaks Assisted Living Residence in Columbus, TX. Sheloved her new home, enjoying the new friends and siblings she cared so much about. She enthusiastically joined in all the activities, especially her love of dominoes and bingo. As visitors, you were strongly encouraged to participate in all the fun.

Mom was surrounded by her seven children when she passed away at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital on August 20, 2010.
