3 years prison for burglar

Mariano Rios Mariano Rios The Willacy County District Attorney’s Office announced today that Mariano Rios, 33, of Raymondville, TX was sentenced to 3 years in prison for Burglary of a Habitation. On August 15, 2014, an officer with the Raymondville Police Department observed a male individual walking and carrying a microwave oven on his shoulder. This encounter took place at night in an area of Raymondville that had recently been plagued by several thefts. The officer made contact with the defendant and inquired where he was coming from and why he was carrying a microwave at that time of the evening. The defendant gave an evasive response to the officer’s questions. The officer then conducted an investigation as to the true owner of the property. The owner’s name was discovered on the microwave. The officer then made contact with the owner of the microwave at her residence that had been burglarized earlier that same evening. More property belonging to the victim was discovered on the defendant’s person and in his room at his residence. The defendant was then arrested without incident. The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Raymondville Police Department for their participation in this case. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Bernard Ammerman and the First Assistant DA Chuck Mattingly.
