RAYMONDVILLE, TX - Mildred Gwendolyn “Gwen” Keene Hocott went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 100 on June 1, 2015, in Pearland, TX. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Born in Ivanhoe, TX on December 29, 1914 to J.D. and Lou Ella Keene, Gwen was the seventh of twelve children. Devoted to her family and friends, Gwen was an active member of First Baptist Church Lyford for 83 years where she taught a women’s Sunday school class for more than 60 years and was active in the adult choir. She was also a leader in Girls’ Auxiliary, Young Women's Auxiliary and Baptist Training Union.

She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond; her parents and eleven siblings and her great-granddaughter McKenzie Lee Hocott. She is survived by her daughter and sonin law Sue Ella and Bill Foster of Austin, TX; her son and daughterin law Kendall and Patsy Hocott of Raymondville, TX; her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Dorothy Hocott of Alvin, TX; and daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Curtis Lengefeld of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rhonda Foster, Vivian Johnson, Dane Hocott, Kimberly Hocott, Kevin Lengefeld, Wesley Hocott and Scott Lengefeld and great-grandchildren Kurt and Kelton Johnson, Alexandra, Victoria and Olivia Hocott, Garrett and Reagan Lengefeld and Michael and Matthew Lengefeld.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to her dear caregivers for the last five years Vannya Trapala, Xochitl Martinez, Tommie May and the ladies of Lakehouse on Dixie and Resolutions Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Duddlesten Funeral Home in Raymondville, TX. A service celebrating Gwen’s life will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lyford, officiated by Rev. Ken Soles. Burial will follow immediately at Lyford Evergreen Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jimmy Ellington, Richard Harrison, Dane Hocott, Wesley Hocott, Kevin Lengefeld and Scott Lengefeld.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Lyford, P.O. Box Drawer G, Lyford, TX 78569.
