Lyford CISD to honor Vietnam War Gold Star families at Annual Veterans Day Ceremony

Lyford CISD will be celebrating its 29th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 10, 2017. The ceremony will be held at Bulldog Stadium at 9:30 am. A patriotic prelude to the ceremony will begin at approximately 9:10 am.

The annual ceremony honors all military veterans, a special tribute during the ceremony will be paid to veterans from the Willacy County area with a medal pinning ceremony presented by a special command group of the five branches of the United States military.

Lyford CISD will, once again, pay special tribute to Vietnam Veterans in the final year of a three-year commitment.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will honor the “Gold Star” Families of seven local soldiers who lost their lives defending freedom in Vietnam.

Special performances will be done by the Lyford Bulldog Band, the Lyford Elementary Choir, the Brownsville Hanna Army JROTC, the Texas A&M Kingsville University Javelina Battalion ROTC, the Warriors United in Arms (Brownsville), and the Sky Dive South Padre Skydivers.

Opening and closing remarks will be delivered by Lyford CISD Superintendent, Eduardo Infante. The ceremony will be narrated by Lyford High School students. The student Master of Ceremonies will be Lyford High School student, Sydney Bray. Sergeant Enoch “ Mac” McClain, United States Marine Corps (Retired) will be the keynote speaker.

A reception will follow the ceremony for the honorees and veterans at the Lyford CISD Veterans Gymnasium.
