JOSE M. “JOE” LEAL

LYFORD - Jose M. “Joe” Leal, 88, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Valley View Assisted Living Facility in Harlingen, TX. He was born on June 21, 1929 in Brownsville, TX to Conrado and Elvira (Manzano) Leal.

Joe was a life long resident of Willacy County. He was a farmer, local businessman, owned and operated his trucking company, and served as a U.S. Postal Rural Carrier for over 26 years. His love for his wife, family, life-long friends (Gilbert Perales, Genaro Pena, and Enrique Mendez) was paramount. Joe’s hobbies were fishing, traveling, and reading John Grisham novels.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mary C. Leal; and son: Joseph Rene Leal. He is survived by his sons: R. David (Imelda) Leal and Danny Leal (Sonya Garza); daughter: Norma (Hector) Cavazos; sisters: Gemima L. Florez and Carlota (Ramiro) Castaneda; grandchildren: Tamarah (Joshua) Brewer, Michael Leal, Jonathon J. Leal, Noe J. Gorena III, Anthony J. Gorena, Joseph Leal, Rebecca Leal, Christina Villanueva, Matthew Leal, Mark Leal, and Andreaa Leal; and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral procession will follow to his final place of rest next to his wife at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Michael Leal, Alex Leal, Joseph Leal, Jonathon J. Leal, Noe J. Gorena III, and Anthony J. Gorena.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home. 1157 W. Hidalgo Raymondville, TX.
