Aurelio R. Guerra, 93, of Lasara, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family. Aurelio was born on Oct. 14, 1924, in Arcabuz, Tamaulipas to the late Felix and Avelina (Ramirez) Guerra.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Rosendo (Hilda†) Guerra and Miguel (Sofia†) Guerra; brother-in-law Gill Villarreal; daughter in-law Rebecca Hinojosa Guerra; and great-granddaughter Kayzley A. Rebeles.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years: Guadalupe O. Guerra; his children Mary (Arturo) Rebeles, Juan Angel (Judy), Felipa G. Gonzales, Keter (Delia), and Lupita (Fred) Guerra-Melendez; his sister Felicitas G. Villarreal of Edinburg, TX; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Aurelio Guerra was a long time resident of Lasara where he raised his five children with his wife and where he lived most of his life. He was a loving, dedicated, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Visitation was held on Sat., July 7, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and on Sun., July 8, 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Aurelio’s life was held on Mon., July 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lasara with interment following at Lasara Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were his grandchildren: Ben Guerra, Barney Guerra, Jaime Rebeles, Mark Rebeles, Agustin Guerra, and Juan Pardo.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, TX 78580.
