Border Patrol identifies nine gang members in one day

EDINBURG, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley arrested and identified nine gang members in one day.

Yesterday, in four separate incidents, agents assigned to the McAllen station apprehended four Salvadoran nationals identified as members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS- 13) gang.

In a separate incident, McAllen agents arrested a Salvadoran female traveling with a minor child whose records showed a previous arrest for assault and confirmed that she is an MS-13 gang member.

McAllen agents also arrested a Salvadoran national near Mission, Texas, and a Guatemalan national near La Joya, Texas, both members of the 18th Street gang.

In Falfurrias, agents arrested a Salvadoran national near Viboras, Texas, whose record checks confirmed that he is an MS-13 gang member.

Kingsville agents apprehended a group of five illegal aliens attempting to circumvent the Sarita Checkpoint. During processing, agents noticed one of the subjects had several MS- 13 affiliated tattoos. Record checks on the Salvadoran man confirmed his status as an MS- 13 gang member.

The Border Patrol is processing the subjects accordingly.
