Local man nabbed in robbery case

Victor De los Reyes Victor De los Reyes A 24-year-old Raymondville man is behind bars facing a charge of aggravated robbery from Nov. 27 allegations. He may well be facing more charges, Willacy County Sheriff’s Department Major Ernie Garcia said.

Victor De los Reyes, is charged with brandishing a weapon at homeowners who fled their home after spotting him in the garage, allegedly attempting to remove items from their house.

Deputies from the Willacy County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division had responded to a burglary in progress call at the home.

De los Reyes was arrested Monday night at the La Luz Apartments in Raymondville by Willacy County deputies and members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, based in Harlingen. The task force is headed by U.S. Marshals and members of several other law enforcement agencies, Garcia said.

De los Reyes is being held at the Willacy County Sheriff’s Department. Since a child was present at the scene of the aggravated robbery, there may be additional charges, Garcia said. Willacy County CID is continuing to investigate.
