A Lasara man who was recently released from prison is back behind bars after being arrested early Monday for allegedly stealing a restored early model Chevrolet Suburban, Willacy County Sheriff ’s Department said.

After hearing a call that the Suburban had been stolen in Lasara, Detective Sgt. Andrew Maldonado and Investigator Ben Taliancich were able to trace the car to a home in Lyford, Sheriff ’s Department Major Ernie Garcia said.

“The case was solved really quickly,” Garcia said. The two officers were able to locate Turner, who was hiding inside the home, and take him into custody.

Turner will be arraigned on Wednesday on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle. He has an extensive record of arrests by the sheriff ’s department, the major said.
